It basically allows submitting jobs programmatically to any server(s) from any REST-enabled client programs (even ASP & PHP webpages can do this quite easily), with full control over PO & DS values, which can be set independently per job submission.

Much like SOAP, REST is a lightweight protocol with almost zero-coding requirements on the client. It can be installed in a variety of ways and use either raw TCP/IP or HTTP/HTTPS communication protocols. A typical installation would use an ISAPI extension module for MS IIS, possibly with SSL. - This is an order of magnitude easier than deploying JDE BSSV! This IIS server can also be Virtual. And it can run some older release of Windows, if necessary.

Nearly all programming languages have direct support for REST & JSON, including all mobile platforms. Developing mobile applications for JDE using this platform is certainly the easiest way to do it.
